Promoting good health is a vital part of our mission at Visiting Nurse Association (VNA). We accomplish this task through home health visits and special events in the community.
Health Promotions
Our nurses travel to several locations within the greater Kansas City area to provide free health screenings, including blood pressure checks, blood sugar/glucose tests, total cholesterol screenings and body mass index calculations. During screenings, VNA nurses also educate participants on the importance of healthy living.
Fall Prevention
Because research indicates falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults, VNA also provides fall risk assessments in a program we call Prevention Power. VNA physical therapists visit local assisted living and retirement communities to conduct balance screenings. They also educate residents about important preventive measures like daily muscle strengthening exercises, assistive walking devices and timely communication with patient care providers.
Our health promotions and fall risk assessments inform people of varying factors that may affect their well-being. As a result, many Kansas City area residents are becoming more proactive in maintaining health through proper nutrition and physical activity.
These programs are funded in part by United Way, a non-profit organization focused on improving lives and strengthening communities. We accept and appreciate private donations as well. If you would like to make a monetary contribution to VNA, please send a check, payable to VNA Corporation, to our main office:

I have had the privilege of having the most professional and fun nursing staff at VNA. I will always request VNA services and recommend VNA to everyone."
Not only would I recommend VNA to my family and friends, but I will recommend VNA to my patients and social workers at the hospital where I work. Many thanks!"
